Careers

We hire three‑dimensional people.

Novo Navis is looking for engineers and professionals across a wide range of disciplines. There is one caveat, and it is the whole point.

The caveat

Your second passion should sit 180 degrees from your profession.

A monotone expert goes deep in one direction and stops. We are not looking for that. A three-dimensional person has the depth and a second axis that pulls the other way: the mechanical engineer who minored in art, the economist who cannot stop reading science fiction. The opposing passion is not a hobby we tolerate. It is the qualification.

Every breakthrough this company has made was an assembly problem. Carbon fiber, looms and heddles all existed; the three-dimensional weave that machines like metal came from putting them together in a way nobody inside the composites world had tried. A physical computing substrate came from taking language down a layer into geometry. Nobody sees a combination like that from inside one discipline. You need the other axis.

Novo Navis is built from these people. If you are one of them, we want to hear from you, whatever your field is.

What it looks like

  • Mechanical engineer180°minor in fine art
  • Economist180°reads science fiction like scripture
  • RF engineer180°plays in a working band
  • Materials scientist180°restores old furniture by hand
  • Software engineer180°studied philosophy first
  • Machinist180°writes poetry nobody has read yet

Examples, not a list. Yours will be different, and that is the idea.

Disciplines

Where the work is right now. If yours is not here, write anyway.

  • Mechanical and structural engineering
  • Composites, weaving and materials science
  • RF, instrumentation and analog electronics
  • Fabrication, CNC machining and mechanism design
  • Robotics, controls and on-orbit operations
  • Physics and applied mathematics
  • Software, simulation and data
  • Economics, finance and program management
  • Writing, film and visual design

How to apply

Two paragraphs. No cover letter.

  1. Your profession. What you do, how deep you go, what you have built.
  2. The thing 180 degrees from it. What it is, how long it has had you, and what it changes about the way you do the first paragraph.

Attach a résumé if you like. The two paragraphs are what gets read first.
